Dr. Adetayo is a board-certified plastic surgeon with additional specialized fellowship training in Pediatric Plastic Surgery and Craniofacial Surgery. She earned her Medical Degree from The University of Chicago. Dr. Adetayo combines her creativity, compassion, meticulous surgical skills, and cutting-edge techniques to restore form and function to patients affected by birth deformities, trauma, and other acquired injuries in both children and adults. She is dedicated to bringing smiles to her patients’ faces while restoring their function with her expertise. Dr. Adetayo is a Professor of Surgery and previously served as Chief of Pediatric Plastic Surgery at Children’s Hospital & Medical Center and Professor of Surgery at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. During her tenure, she created multiple new service lines that brought in additional care for patients in the region as well as out-of-state patients who traveled to receive her care and championed many first-of-its-kind surgical procedures in the state. She previously resided In Upstate New York, where she founded and established the first-ever regional multidisciplinary Cleft-Craniofacial Center in Northeastern New York, serving as the Director of the program. Under her leadership, the program received national recognition by the ACPA as a designated center for children with cleft and craniofacial conditions, attracting support and donor funding from respected individuals and reputable organizations. She has been voted multiple years in America's Top Plastic Surgeons, honored in 40 under 40, published in Top Doctors, Inducted into Marquis Who’s Who In America, awarded Marquis Who’s Who Worldwide Humanitarian Award, and Honored at Proctors Immigrants Ball dedicated to showcasing new Americans whose courage, hard work, resilience, and sacrifice have shaped the community. Her published works include peer-reviewed publications in leading journals including Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Journal, Annals of Plastic Surgery, Journal of Craniofacial Surgery, Journal of Neurosurgery and Pediatrics, published abstracts, and book chapters.
She has authored several books and book chapters in medical texts such as Comprehensive Cleft Care, which is one of the few leading authoritative volumes on Cleft and Craniofacial care, as well as the Family Edition to Comprehensive Cleft Care, a guide edition for patients and their families. She has written several booklets including “5 Helpful Things You Need To Know Before Meeting And Selecting A Surgeon” as a helpful guide for patients their families, The “7 Step Success Formula” designed to help other medical professionals, in addition to other resources to help patients and healthcare professionals navigate their journey.
In addition to her roles as Founder, Director, and Chief, Dr. Adetayo has held numerous leadership and advocacy positions. These include serving as Co-President of the University of Chicago REMEDY Cuba Medical Aid Mission, Chairperson of the Long Beach Rescue Mission, Co-President of the Phi Delta Epsilon Premedical Society, and Coordinator of the Chicago Chapter of the Adolescent Substance Abuse Prevention Program.
Her passion for global health has taken her on medical missions to Cuba, Haiti, Nigeria, and Peru. She partners with international organizations such as Rotary International and Smile Train to enhance surgical outcomes, strengthen quality control systems, and provide education and training for healthcare professionals worldwide.
